Energry Assessor
Full Time

Reporting directly to Conservation Consultants, Inc.’s Program Manager, the successful candidate will perform in-home energy assessments to support programs administered by the organization.

Purpose of Position:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Conducting in-home energy assessments of customer homes for the Duquesne Light Smart Comfort Program and/or other similar programs that require in-home assessments.
  • Appropriately prepare for each visit, securing needed supplies (light bulbs, etc.), scheduling information, and customer information packets from CCI in advance of visits, and confirming all appointments with resident prior to arrival.
  • Identify all potential low cost/no cost energy efficiency improvement opportunities and educated the homeowners on what they can do to make their homes less expensive to heat and cool, safer, and more comfortable.
  • Install energy savings devices, such as compact fluorescent lamps, smart strips, etc.
  • Capture, track and report required data via paper forms and through computer data entry into required databases.
  • Review residents’ energy bills with them and findings of on-site visits. Coach residents on energy savings opportunities and any rebate opportunities available to them.
  • Support the lead generation effort for the Smart Comfort program as needed with database research, lead generation letters, outbound phone calls, and other activities.
  • Complete data entry for programs in an accurate and timely manner each day.
  • Act as additional scheduling back up support for Smart Comfort Schedulers.
  • Assist in community outreach such as tabling at events.
  • With employer support, develop and maintain technical skills and expertise needed through ongoing professional development.
  • Support overall well-being of CCI’s facility and organization through various, as-needed tasks.
  • Associate may be asked to support other CCI programs and activities, including other utility programs, community canvassing, outbound mailing support as needed.
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours are part of the duties which will include:
    • Being part of the monthly rotation for Emergency Repair Programs
    • Outreach events; including but not limited to: tabling, annual fundraiser, seminars and trainings

Skills and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly in the line of work.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable using mobile technology.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Energy Analyst Project Developer Intern
Part Time, Internship

CCI’s Director of Market Initiatives is developing new energy efficiency business models to help small businesses and homeowners in the Pittsburgh region to improve their energy efficiency and lower their carbon impact. The successful candidate will offer the Director of Market Initiatives technical support in extracting, tracking, and analyzing energy savings data; will assist CCI’s Construction Services Manager and CCI Field Team in on-site building evaluations; and will support the development of technical energy audit evaluations and retrofit recommendation reports using existing and intuitive software tools.

Purpose of Position:

CCI’s Director of Market Initiatives is developing new energy efficiency business models to help small businesses and homeowners in the Pittsburgh region to improve their energy efficiency and lower their carbon impact. The successful candidate will offer the Director of Market Initiatives technical support in extracting, tracking, and analyzing energy savings data; will assist CCI’s Construction Services Manager and CCI Field Team in on-site building evaluations; and will support the development of technical energy audit evaluations and retrofit recommendation reports using existing and intuitive software tools.

The ideal candidate has a passion for sustainability and green buildings. The Sustainability Associate can expect to be interact with clients, participate in on-site building evaluations in the field, and can expect to work with software to create, track and analyze data for project management and tracking purposes through CCI program collaborations with the Department of Energy and others as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coursework in architecture, building performance & diagnostics, engineering, sustainable design, environmental science, urban planning, or a related field is required.
  • A four year degree in a related field, such as those listed above, is a plus.
  • Previous experience with building diagnostics
  • Experience using portfolio manager or similar online tools, a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A self-started with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Solid fundamental computer and technology skills – proficiency in MS Office Suite (including Access) and Outlook

The ideal candidate has a passion for sustainability, is interested in developing sustainable business initiatives, and is interested in learning how to advance sustainability in the marketplace.

  • Interact with CCI’s customers to gather their stories and develop customer project case studies
  • Regularly update CCI’s Sound Home and Energize Small Biz webpages with relevant content.
  • Track CCI’s Google Analytics.
  • Regularly generate materials for the CCI newsletter and other appropriate outlets, such as CCI’s social media accounts, that will keep stakeholders up to date on key issues and events.
  • Provide administrative support including customer intake and project data tracking.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • A self-starter with strong attention to detail.
